Family Voices in Early Relational Health on 12/1

11am-12:30pm on Tuesday December 1

In the fall of 2019, a small group of stakeholders in Oregon, including funders, child and family health care system staff and researchers committed to listening deeply to family perspectives on foundational early relationships and the potential for the child health care system to play a supportive role. Portland State University (PSU) led a pilot study to explore these topics by focus group interviews with three groups of families: (1) African American mothers living in inner Northeast Portland; (2) Spanish-speaking Latinx mothers living in rural Oregon; and (3) White mothers living in an isolated rural community in Southern Oregon. This webinar will bring a discussion by the PSU research team and participating parents of some of the key themes that emerged as well as their recommendations for how the child and family health system can be more supportive to their family relationships. Then three national discussants will each discuss the importance of the findings and implications for efforts to advance early relational health with parent voice in the lead.

Supporting Patients in Pregnancy: ACEs and Maternal Health on 12/2

Speakers will share resources for providers looking to introduce ACE screening in their practice, examples of how to create a healing environment for patients, and case studies on how to respond to ACEs with trauma-informed care.

Advocacy Toolkit Webinar: Making Persuasive Arguments for Adult Education and Literacy on 12/2

ProLiteracy recently released Advocacy Toolkit for Adult Education and Literacy: How to Increase Public and Private Support Using PIAAC Data. This toolkit, written by advocacy experts, describes how to use skills data, program activity and success, and student stories to persuade policy makers and stakeholders to support adult literacy. In this timely webinar, David Rosen, Jackie Taylor, and Michele Diecuch, will show participants how to use PIAAC state and county estimates to advocate for support with state and local legislators, foundations and corporations, and individual donors. They will offer guidelines and tips to make the case for how adult education and literacy positively impact unemployment and economic mobility during and after the pandemic. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions.
