Resilience documentary - enjoyed by all generations in my family

We had a small group of friends and family over on Sunday evening for the special showing of the Resilience documentary. With some lemonade, chips and crackers and we were all ready. My 80 year old dad and 16 year old son both enjoyed the film and took away the underlying message about understanding where people's behaviors are coming from and how important it is to not ignore these facts. Two school teacher both shared how they have intuitively know this for years and have been trying within there classrooms to find ways to help reduce and address toxic stress. They also both indicated how more concrete tools and community resources are needed. Former school board member, Sheila Allen, shared ideas for further outreach within the schools and community. And one friend said she was going to try and talk with her teenager with this added insight.
This documentary provides a great overview of the ACEs study and trauma informed approaches. Similar to the Paper Tigers documentary, which YRN brought to the community last fall, Resilience not only provides the information but introduces you to families sharing their stories and provides inspirational examples of places where Trauma Informed approaches are being use. These can serve as models for others to build on and incorporate into their own homes, work places and communities.
Thank you to ACEs Connection for the Resilience showing and providing this opportunity to bring community together.
