Empower Yolo Support Groups and Services

As many of you may know, Empower Yolo provides 24 hour crisis intervention, emergency shelter, confidential counseling, training, legal assistance and other services for individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking and child abuse. We also have a resource center  and do community outreach to improve the health, social, educational and economic outcomes of Yolo County residents. Currently we are offering 3 support group classes aimed to help domestic violence victims and sexual assault victims. Our groups are a blend of educational information and a supportive environment. All of our groups are free to attend.
  • Our DV support group is 8 weeks long and goes over various topics such as the cycle of violence, why people stay in abusive relationships, and how DV affects children. We currently have 3 different class times for participants to choose from if they are English speaking and 1 Spanish speaking class. We have this class via Zoom and 1 class is in-person. This is a rolling enrollment class, so anyone can sign up at any time.
  • Our Thriving Teens Group is aimed at teens ages 13-19 and is a 12 week group that discusses aspects of sexual assault.  We are hoping to get this group started on Monday Sept 28 at 5:30pm via zoom. We will be accepting sign ups beyond the 20th as the flyer suggests. This will be a closed group, rather than a rolling enrollment. If someone wants to sign up after we have already started, I can keep their name and number until the next class is ready to start.
  • Our Self Care Support Group is aimed at adult victims of either sexual assault or domestic violence and is a 6 week group. We go over why self care is important, how to implement it in your life, and give suggestions of things one could do to engage in self care. It is held on Thursdays at 6pm via zoom. It is a really fun class, and many of our clients feel it is just what they needed to help them during this pandemic!

Lastly, I wanted to share about our individual counseling program. We are currently accepting adult clients who have been victimized by domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking. We also provide services to children who have experienced the same, or have also been a victim of child abuse. These services are also free of charge!
Please check out our flyers, and feel free to share them! Potential clients can contact me at this email address, my desk line (530) 665-5311, or come into any of our offices to sign up.
