Dignity Health Woodland Memorial Hospital has awarded a $67,000 community grant to a collaborative proposal that will address the mental health needs in Yolo County.

The proposal brings together Yolo County nonprofits Suicide Prevention of Yolo County, Yolo Community Care Continuum (Safe Harbor) and Yolo Family Service Agency to address the gap that exists within the community for short-term crisis residential and outpatient mental health services.

These partners are working directly with Woodland Memorial Hospital to support individuals who need short-term crisis residential services rather than inpatient treatment, linking them to Safe Harbor for intervention and stabilization. Individuals also receive follow-up care and outpatient mental health care through Yolo Community Care Continuum and the Yolo Family Service Agency.

The goal of this unique program is to better the lives of people with mental illness by providing direct access to therapy and services, according to Kevin Vaziri, president of Woodland Memorial Hospital.

“This collaborative proposal with local non-profit organizations will enhance mental health services in Yolo County and help people struggling in our community,” said Vaziri. “Our community grants program is an important part of our overall service and commitment to the region we serve.”

Dignity Health’s greater Sacramento service area, which included Woodland Memorial Hospital, Mercy General Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Folsom, Mercy San Juan Medical Center, Methodist Hospital and Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, has awarded more than $800,000 in community grants to five collaborative proposals. Across the Dignity Health system, 87 community grants were awarded totaling $4.1 million.
