PHC6451 Public Health Communication Project: Changemakers, A Trauma-Informed After-School Program to Build Resilience in Duval County Students

For this project, I created 3 communication materials which include an infographic, a blog post, and a TV commercial. This entire project is just an idea for a potential public health project which is based on a hypothetical grant given to the Florida Department of Health in Duval county. It is assumed that this grant has unlimited funds for the context of this project.

The after-school program is called Changemakers. Changemakers is aimed towards a target population of children ages 4-17 who have experienced at least one ACE, but all students are welcome to join. The ultimate goal of Changemakers is to improve interconnectedness within the school by fostering positive peer groups, providing opportunities for mentorship, educating teachers on ACEs, and having parents involved with their child's school community.

The hypothetical grant funds 200 positions for community health workers to lead the after-school programs in the various 197 public schools in Duval county. It will take place every M-F after school for all students ages 4-17 that attend school in Duval county. The grant funds the admission for students to participate in the program. Changemakers will start on August 20th, 2020 at the beginning of the academic school year in Duval county. Each week, the  CHW will craft a lesson plan that changes daily. The curriculum will revolve around personal growth, coping skills, building leadership skills, teamwork, enhancing confidence, and how to build positive relationships.

I have attached my infographic for more information and a hypothetical blog post for context.
