Re: Sonoma County ACEs Connection Meeting
Please see attached for the 10-24-18 meeting. Thank you @Michelle Dominguez I have a suggestion , as a way of accelerating the ACEs movement - would it be possible to have folks introduce themselves and share what brings them to the meeting - personal or professional (or both!)? Maybe they could also share what is happening in their work/world related to ACEs, trauma informed work and building resiliency? Additionally, I am wondering if folks who are participating on behalf of their...

Re: Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Sounds Alarm Over Mental Health...
Remy, The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors also specifically included ACEs on their Legislative Platform. This means that ACEs are one of the considerations when deciding their position on upcoming legislative opportunities. This ensures a systematic infusion of ACEs science into public policy.

Re: Policy Committee Meeting Notes
Allen, Alison & Lena - You guys are awesome! Allen, these notes are great!! The ideas and strategies you outlined have the potential to nudge real systems change! Incorporating adverse community experiences, along with ACEs - is very timely - on many levels. Speaking of systems change - some may be interested to know that the CDPH Essentials for Childhood Initiative leadership is starting an effort to push toward having California become a "trauma informed state" (details TBD). Local Affiliates Accelerate ACEs-and-Resilience Movement in Montana
In Toole County, Montana, deputy sheriffs call a school counselor, from their patrol cars, after responding to a traumatic incident—a domestic abuse call, an overdose, an arrest—that involves a child. “Handle with care,” they tell the counselor, and they give the child’s name. The counselor passes that information to teachers: a quiet heads-up that the student might be hungry or sleepy, tearful, angry or distracted by whatever happened at home. “My teachers love it,” says Mary Miller, chair...

Sonoma County field nurses use ACEs science to educate families
Santa Rosa, CA, resident Lisa Marden watches her 15-month-old baby gleefully play with magic markers and relays how she’s been coping with feeling anxious. (We're using a pseudonym to protect the family's privacy.) “I’m just super stressed out with everything, and as soon as I eat anything, I get nauseous, so I’ve been eating snacks instead of meals,” she explains to Liz George, a field nurse with the Maternal/Child Field Nursing team of Sonoma County, CA, who has been seeing Marden on home...

Sonoma County begins housing dozens of formerly homeless residents (Press Democrat)
By Tyler Silvy, December 27, 2020, The Press Democrat.
