High school district wins huge anti-tobacco grant [Sonoma West]
West Sonoma County Union High School District has won a $760,438 grant from the California Department of Justice’s Tobacco Grant Program, a program funded by the California Healthcare, Research and Prevention Tax Act of 2016 (Proposition 56). Approved by voters in 2016, Proposition 56 increased taxes on cigarettes and other tobacco products by $2 starting in April 2017. Homeless population receives help from grant [SonomaStateStar.com]
The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has approved a grant allocating $630,000 to three different non-profits to help with the homeless situation. Supervisors signed off on the grant Tuesday, also continuing the safe parking program, which designated sites around Santa Rosa for people to sleep in their cars overnight.
