Hi Tina I am the Parent Resources Director at CPI (Child Parent Institute). Now that everyone has given you the evidence based etc formal info, I will add the informal info. I think what helped us be such enthusiastic implementers of the Family Strengthening model was that we did some staff trainings that were a fun way to learn about this model. I used some activities that helped staff think about what factors they had and how they could see that in themselves and in the families we serve.

So, I'm a bit surprised that the thoughts I sent to our leadership and later posted here on 11/9/16 for everyone to read are not mentioned at all. While the concept of looking at the original document for principles is good in theory, it should be remembered that at the last meeting people had issues with the original being "unwelcoming." Thanks for posting this Lena! I'm not surprised that agencies literally prioritized "bricks & mortar" projects over less tangible outcomes such as mental health. Still, it's sad that we do so. The data on populations served is surprising: I get that persons who lost their home in the fires might have been persons previously more likely to give to causes than to seek assistance from them. Still, you would expect that some who lost homes would be seniors, veterans, LGBTQ, women, etc., so...

Thank you, Lena, for sharing this real-time response survey. The level of suffering, from those who're now homeless, to those who received less services due to service providers stretched so thin, is staggering. Mental health awareness, education, and implementation cross-sector is so critically imperative. The suffering permeates through all those impacted. Your 2018 Wildfire Response Survey highlights the paramount community needs and frames this reality in a succinct, profound way.

Hi Holly - Here are a few examples of changes I've seen: At a medical office the conversation shifted to ACEs, which lead to a request for technical information - upon providing the information, the physician stated the materials were shared at their provider meeting and now their administration is seeking ways to delve deeper into ACEs / TIC / Resilience, etc. at their internal provider meetings.
