Re: The damage is already done.

Thank you Danielle for sharing your blog. Such a critically imperative awareness is slowly moving through our communities on how devastating domestic violence impacts the well-being of everyone involved. We must, as one human family, increase prevention in every facet of our communities. Churches, schools, community-based organizations, youth leadership programs, etc. need to have this depth of awareness and understanding. Thank you for including resources for those in need. Very...

Re: State Dropping Ball in Dealing With Childhood Trauma, New Report Says [CaliforniaHealthline.org]

Jane Stevens ·
As the Center for Youth Wellness titled their state report in 2014, ACEs is a hidden epidemic that still doesn't have enough resources to eradicate it, and that means more kids and families that suffer. But the momentum is gaining to change this, especially in San Diego!

Thanks Amelia for posting these slides! Perusing through, there's some great slides to include in our workshop with our Youth Sub-Committee of our Commission on Gang Prevention & Intervention on their training of the impact of trauma in their lives and communities.

Re: LGBTQ Youth: Voices of Trauma, Lives of Promise

Thanks so much for sharing, Pam. This is such a wonderful resource. I had not seen this one. It is a follow up to another video made last year by the NCTSN called Safe Spaces. Safe Places: Creating Welcoming and Inclusive Environments for Traumatized LGBTQ Youth. This video is a bit longer (25 minutes) and features the same youth, but also has some great suggestions from professionals on how to create safe spaces for LGBTQ youth. Here is a link to that video

Wonderful! Thanks very much Dana! I am looking forward to meeting you in person! I participated in a phone conference with you and Corey Pahanish (from Bayside Community Center) quite a while ago. . . At least over a year ago. I’ll completely understand if you don’t remember seeing as how it was so long ago, but you definitely had an impact on me, and I’m very much looking forward to joining the meeting on Friday. All the best, Lauren Schade, M.A. Program Coordinator San Diego Youth...

Re: Domestic Violence and Children

Thank you Nicole for writing your blog. Domestic Violence is universal and the video you choose was so interesting as it represents youth and children in Greece, Spain, U.K. etc. We have much work to do with our one human family in a global society... How we treat each other, care for each other, learn from each other must be from the heart beat of compassion and respect. And just as importantly, how do we help the perpetrators "relearn what they've learned"...

Re: Resilience Blossoms (Rita Grant) 9.06 minutes

Hi Andi. Please know we're in the process of developing the school based to community based youth leadership as a train the trainer model. Concurring with you, it would be powerful to have community based models with a continuum of trauma informed - resilience building curriculum for children and youth to be wrapped around with multi-generational programs and increased protective factors as they support children and youth advocacy. Even with these increased protective factors, these children...
