Two-Way Street: Community Organizer and San Diego Trauma-Informed Guide Team Learn from One Another
Barry Pollard told the San Diego Trauma-Informed Guide Team (SD-TIGT) how a small group of exasperated residents had rattled the corporate gates and won. During the “trauma-informed journey” portion of January’s SD-TIGT meeting—a regular feature in which a member or guest shares challenges, triumphs and lessons learned in the course of implementing trauma-informed practices—Pollard, founder of San Diego’s three-year-old Urban Collaborative Project (UCP), told how residents in Southeast San...

San Diego Trauma Informed Guide Team (SD-TIGT) Strategic Plan 2016-2018
After seven years, the San Diego Trauma Informed Guide Team (SD-TIGT) had evolved and grown significantly, as had the trauma informed movement. Upon reviewing the initial Strategic Plan, developed in 2009, it was found that it was time for this document to be revised. A dedicated group of core members began meeting with the daunting task of updating the Mission, Vision, and Goals. In November 2015, the SD-TIGT was fortunate enough to be one of 14 Mobilizing Action for Resilient Communities...

Getting on the Same Page: Developing a Strategic Plan
Plans change. That was a key lesson learned by the San Diego Trauma-Informed Guide Team (SD-TIGT) as the group worked to hone a strategic plan. The network had begun as a grass-roots collaborative, and members wanted to preserve that sense of openness and inclusion. At the same time, with Harmonium, Inc., as the backbone organization and the MARC grant as an impetus, the network also needed structure, goals and clearly defined roles. Already, the Guide Team’s focus had shifted; what began in...

Re: No expulsions for students in Lincoln brawl (sandiegouniontribune.com)
From what I've observed, Restorative Justice (RJ) holds offenders accountable in powerful ways that traditional sentencing does not. That is, the offenders would take responsibility, take part in facilitated gatherings to see what can be done to make amends, and work towards reconciliation. One of the most significant results of Restorative Justice is that the repeat offender rate is significantly lower than following the usual system of punishment--- and it also actually saves taxpayer...

I have been away for too long. I am now working with Seaport Home Health and Hospice as hospice chaplain. We have the potential to grow and impact many families in the county. I intend to help our organization to be a real trauma informed agency and have the support of my CEO and Director of Patient Care Services (and colleagues). I look forward to joining you all on July 6 to reconnect, learn and share. Where will the meeting be? Thanks. Peace, Jaime

Any chance there will be an additional screening coming up? And/or, will it be available in any other way soon (e.g., online??) Thanks! Blessings, Linda K. Re: Paper Tigers free screening
I understand, Linda - I can't attend either! I do know that the Paper Tigers website has listings for showings around the country and/or there is the option of "renting" the DVD for your own viewing (kind of expensive for just one person - I think its around $200). Hopefully others who do local screenings will post it on ACEs Connection and you'll be able to attend:-)
