San Diego County refugee numbers plummet following Trump's block on arrivals (The San Diego Union Tribune)
With the Trump administration's blocks on arrivals from certain countries, the number of refugees resettling in San Diego County so far this fiscal year dropped 96 percent from last year. There are 21,466 homeless students in San Diego County K-12 public schools. That is nearly the population of Coronado. The San Diego County Office of Education reports the number of homeless students rose from 15,826 during the 2010-11 school year, to 21,466 in the 2015-16 school year. Standing alongside church leaders, San Diego Unified officials Friday vowed not to expel students involved in last week’s brawl at Lincoln High School, regardless of the findings of the ongoing criminal investigation — in the name of restorative justice.
