Dear John, Watching Marriage Story on New Year’s Eve was the ending I needed to witness in order to understand our own. Like Charlie and Nicole, we have history, we share a child, and we both want our child to be raised in an environment where she can thrive. While our similarities don’t stop there, the difference in how their ending started inspired me to follow suit. A mediator encouraged them to write a note of positivity to remember why they got married (together) in the first place.

Yes! The Compton lawsuit is huge. The momentum is building! As we've covered in previous stories on the education front, school wide transformation is most effective when social emotional learning, restorative, and trauma-informed approaches are interwoven into every level of the system, from janitor to teachers to students to parents to principals. Thanks so much for sharing, Pam. This is such a wonderful resource. I had not seen this one. It is a follow up to another video made last year by the NCTSN called Safe Spaces. Safe Places: Creating Welcoming and Inclusive Environments for Traumatized LGBTQ Youth. This video is a bit longer (25 minutes) and features the same youth, but also has some great suggestions from professionals on how to create safe spaces for LGBTQ youth. Here is a link to that video

I have been away for too long. I am now working with Seaport Home Health and Hospice as hospice chaplain. We have the potential to grow and impact many families in the county. I intend to help our organization to be a real trauma informed agency and have the support of my CEO and Director of Patient Care Services (and colleagues). Our first virtual Learning Exchange was a success! Melissa Tran-Chamblin, AMFT provided an informative presentation, illustrated by her personal experiences, on Trauma-Informed Care Through a Cultural Lens, after which attendees divided into virtual break out groups to discuss their responses to Melissa's presentation.
