San Diego Appoints New Official For Homelessness (kpbs.org)

San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer has created a new position within city government to facilitate communication among homelessness agencies.

Stacie Spector, a management and communications consultant who worked in the Clinton administration, is the city's senior advisor for housing solutions.

San Diego has moved, along with the nation, away from the emphasis on seasonal shelters to a housing first, long-term approach to solving homelessness. And the city is working towards an ambitious goal of housing 1,000 homeless veterans by March 2017. But the transition has not been easy and Spector will help coordinate with relevant nonprofits, city officials and other government agencies.
