P3SD: Closing the Achievement Gap Before It Opens

I am excited to attend the P3SD: Prenatal to 3rd Grade, Closing the Achievement Gap Before It Opens Conference today with Rosa Anna Lozada, Harmonium's CEO. The conference is presented by the Education Synergy Alliance and P3SD. There has been exciting discussion on the difference of Equity vs Equality in Education for Early Childhood Education. We are thinking about the Heckman Equation which has shown that an early and equal development of human potential yields the highest longterm results for developing human potential. This highlights the need for investment in early childhood education. There has also been very important discussion about Kindergarten readiness and the importance of social-emotional development to create a readiness to learn. Although trauma has not been explicitly discussed, you can hear the recognition of how ACEs impact social-emotional development and readiness to learn.

Thanks Amy!  So glad that you and Rosa  Anna are there.  I find that often, at conferences such as the one you describe,  I am the one who  can help bridge and make the specific connections to ACEs and resilience. This can lead to the beginning of new alliances with sectors like early childhood education which in turn helps grow the movement for just, healthy and resilient communities.
