Now Hiring: ACEs Connection Network Southern California Regional Community Manager

OVERVIEW

 

The ACEs Connection Network comprises ACEsTooHigh.com and ACEsConnection.com. The network is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the California Endowment and currently engages over 4,000 members.

 

ACEsTooHigh.com is a solutions-oriented news site that covers research about adverse childhood experiences, including the epidemiology (the CDC ACE Study and other ACE surveys), the neurobiology of toxic stress, the long-term biomedical and epigenetic consequences of toxic stress, and resilience research. It reports how people, organizations, agencies and communities are implementing practices based on the research. The stories focus on developments across all sectors -- education, juvenile justice, criminal justice, public health, medicine, mental health, social services, faith communities, civic, and more and highlight all types of communities: cities, counties regions, and states.

 

ACEsConnection.com is a community of practice social network that helps communities use a collective impact approach to prevent adverse childhood experiences (ACEs); to change systems so they no longer traumatize already traumatized people; and to build resilience in individuals, families, organizations, systems and communities. ACEsConnection.com uses distributed networking technology to support cross-sector, community efforts. The network engages and empowers a critical mass of ACEs-, trauma-informed, and resilience-building champions. The move from a few centralized networks to many overlapping distributed networks enables residents, advocates and professionals to participate equally across sectors and geographies to create change.

 

KEY DOMAINS OF RESPONSIBILITY

 

Information and resources. Work with a multidisciplinary staff of journalists, public health and policy professionals to monitor the site and be available to answer questions from members regarding content and technology. Scan media outlets daily and post ACEs-, trauma-informed, and resilience-related stories. Present and distribute information on ACEs-, trauma-informed, and resilience-building approaches across all sectors of California communities.

 

Goal-oriented action groups. Assist members with joining and starting groups in Southern California. Groups are either geographic-based (city, county, region, state) or sector-based (ie., pediatrics, criminal justice, education). Groups can be public or private, small or large. Groups are a vehicle for planning, implementing, and evaluating the process of implementing trauma-informed and resilience-building practices based on childhood adversity research. Assist group members with online discussions and chats in conjunction with in-person meetups. Work with groups to create collaborative working documents to track their progress.

 

Community management. Assist in identifying, training, and mentoring each group's community managers. Work collaboratively with group’s community managers and members to develop and implement goals, strategies, and action plans through online and in-person activities. Blog relevant info, post events, feature member activities, coordinate working documents, schedule and track in-person meetups.

 

Traditional social networking. Assist members with blogs, discussion forums, live chats, private messaging, in-person meetups and events. Assist members with sharing documents, photos, videos, audio files, calendars, and distribution to their own networks via Facebook, Twitter and listservs.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years experience with Masters in related field, or commensurate experience.

  • Supervisory experience and skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to the field of ACEs-, trauma-informed, and resilience-building principles, research and practice.

  • Interest in development of online social networking and Internet-based communications.

  • Willing and excited to explore uncharted territory.

  • Team oriented.

  • Inclined and able to self-motivate, initiate, and follow through with limited supervision.

  • Experience conducting outreach and building meaningful relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Proficient in the development, adaptation, and facilitation of presentations, meetings, and events to meet the needs of diverse communities.

  • Experience with successfully navigating and resolving challenging group dynamics.

  • Desire to learn and grow; consistently seeking new opportunities and integrating feedback to improve work quality.

  • Well-organized, attention to detail, and able to meet deadlines.

  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities; ability to synthesize information and approaches.

  • Clear and concise writing skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Access to reliable phone, Internet, and personal computer.

  • Access to a car for frequent regional travel in the Southern California region including Los Angeles and San Diego counties.

 

Salary

  • Starting: 20 hours per week at $36 per hour through April 2016

  • Goal: increase position to 40 hours per week post April 2016
