Spring Event for Resilient Sacramento: Share Your Ideas!

Hi everyone! At yesterday's Resilient Sacramento meeting we started discussing some ideas for a spring community event. We would like to create a space to start kicking around some ideas. Please comment below! Here were some suggestions from the group yesterday...

  • A performance of "Trigger," DeAngelo's AWESOME play
  • Screenings of movies that address Trauma Informed Perspectives in pre-natal care, birthing ("In Utero" or "American Way of Birthing")
  • A town hall on community issues
  • Your ideas...!

I would like to be a part of the Spring event committee.  I have two local speakers who would likely be willing to come, Sharon Behrens and Mia.  Their story was shown on CBS back in 2009 and the pair currently travel around providing information surrounding trauma informed care.  They are actively involved within many arenas inPlacer County.  The link to the CBS story:

I would be willing to reach out to Sharon should this be an opportunity of interest.  She often shows a video of Mia as a child, followed by information and Mia's own thoughts and experiences.

In addition to Sharon potentially being a speaker I would also like to help the Spring event committee gain funds for the event through a tiered sponsorship system.  The Children's Receiving Home would like to be a sponsor at this time and can discuss this more within the committee.
