July 2021 CTIPP CAN Call Follow Up - Using Trauma-Informed and Faith-Based Approaches to Overcome Poverty

Thank you to all who joined our incredible CTIPP CAN call on Wednesday. We are grateful for all who participated, but want to especially thank Jen Curt for the overview of the STRONG Support for Children Act, and Rebecca Lewis-Pankratz and Sanghoon Yoo for their wonderful presentations about their work. You can find the recording from the July CTIPP CAN call here.
There were so many valuable resources shared. Attached to this email are both powerpoints from Rebecca and Sanghoon, and they were both kind enough to share their contact information as well! Rebecca's email is rebeccalewis@essdack.org and Sanghoon's email is thefaithfulcity@gmail.com.
Additionally, we have a number of resources regarding the legislation moving through Congress right now we discussed during the call. Jen shared three resources during her presentation: a two pager on the STRONG Support for Children Act, a letter from Congresswoman Pressley to President Biden encouraging the administration to address trauma, and a letter from Congresswoman Pressley to her constituents about her hope for the future and commitment to address trauma. If you would like to take action to support the STRONG Support for Children Act, you can fill out this form to reach out to your Representative encouraging them to support the legislation.
In addition to the STRONG Support for Children Act, we discussed the RISE from Trauma Act and the need to take action to build Senate co-sponsorship for the bill. Attached to this email is a one-pager about the bill, and here is another form for you to fill out to reach out to your Senators encouraging them to co-sponsor RISE.
There is also still time to mobilize around American Rescue Plan Act funds to leverage as many as possible for trauma-informed supports. Find information to advocate for funds at this link and please reach out to decision makers as soon as possible!
If you have reached out to your Congressperson or Senators about the above opportunities or otherwise, or if you have successfully mobilized around American Rescue Plan Act funds, please let us know in the chat below! And also, please tag CTIPP in social media posts so that we can stay updated about the great work you are doing in your community/state!
If you have not already done so, you can subscribe to our YouTube channel to see past CTIPP CAN calls and get notifications when future videos are uploaded, and please sign up for the National Trauma Campaign. If you are able to do so, please consider donating to support CTIPP's ongoing work!
