United Kingdom ACEs Connection

We come from all different sectors, walks of life and parts of the United Kingdom to prevent ACEs, and to change systems to become self-healing and to stop traumatizing already traumatized people.

Early childhood intervention approaches to mental health and substance misuse challenges

Appreciate these two resources may have been shared elsewhere within the Aces Connection site, but thought worth bringing to people's attention, one from UK, one from USA.  First is a joint publication by Addaction and Young Minds entitled: "Childhood adversity, substance misuse and young people's mental health" - an expert briefing published 2017 https://youngminds.org.uk/reso...oples-mental-health/

Second is a report: "Principles of substance abuse prevention for early childhood - a research-based guide", published in USA in 2016 https://www.drugabuse.gov/site...ntion_march_2016.pdf

Both highlight the major impact of early childhood trauma and the ACES agenda, point to the benefits of early intervention and also advocate for joined up working to achieve multiple future benefits, both in childhood and into adulthood.
