The Sanctuary Model: Equipping Organizations in the Practice of Trauma Informed Care

United Way building

The Philadelphia Mayor's Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity and the United Way of Greater Pennsylvania and Southeastern New Jersey December round table will feature a presentation by Philadelphia ACE Task Force co-chair, Dr. Sandra Bloom, founder of Sanctuary programs and author of numerous books on the Sanctuary Model and its application in organizational settings.  As defined on its official website, "the Sanctuary Model® represents a theory-based, trauma-informed, evidence-supported, whole culture approach that has a clear and structured methodology for creating or changing an organizational culture." This roundtable will provide an opportunity to learn more about the Sanctuary Model and to engage in small group discussions on the model and its potential for transforming social service delivery systems.  Dr. Bloom is Associate Professor of Health Management and Policy at the School of Public Health, Drexel University, and Co-Director of  Drexel's Center for Nonviolence and Social Justice.
