Connection keeps us from falling through the cracks.

We hear the message constantly that it is important to build relationships and make connections with each other and our students; but it can be discouraging for many to keep that fire burning when we don't see the results of those connections. I asked a teacher recently if she every planted a seed and watched it become a seed. She instantly stopped me and said she got it. Our quest to form relationships with the children we serve isn't always an overnight fix. For some, we may never see the benefit the way we think it should be. But the truth is, those connections are making an impact. Those relationships are helping in ways we may never know. And the more we keep seeing that child, and not just their behaviors - is the more we keep them from falling through the crack.

Do your own web! The Early Learning Coalition of St Lucie County in Florida is kicking  off their Trauma Informed Care training. We started off by focusing on the strengths that exist with our child care centers and how those strengths support their students.  Providers watched the film Broken Places and discussed action steps to move this county forward in a more trauma informed direction!
