Two New Grant Opportunities for Youth Development and Diversion Services
In 2019, more than $40 million will become available to fund community-based, culturally rooted, trauma-informed services for youth in California as alternatives to arrest and incarceration. Thousands of California youth are arrested every year for low-level offenses. I would love it if everyone could have their own groups, but then would use this format to share, so we could learn what projects other counties are working on. Not sure if this is realistic to expect (that we would take time to share here). But sometimes it's nice not to have to re-create the wheel. On the other hand, Jane has been so fabulous at keeping us up-to-date with ideas from across the county, it might not be necessary to keep this group.

When I was an adolescent and young adult, I struggled with depression. As I reflect back on that time, so much of what I was experiencing was deeply tied to coming to terms with my sexuality. Growing up in the 1980’s in a relatively conservative town, I was closeted (even to myself) until I was a young adult.
