Iowa ACEs Action (IA)

Iowa ACEs Action connects individuals and communities across Iowa who are reducing adverse childhood experiences and the impact of toxic stress. This collaborative online community serves as the venue for sharing resources and best practices, and for launching discussion and open communication across all regions of our state.

Community-Based Prevention Response

Prevent Child Abuse Iowa is looking to partner with 3-4 teams from communities across Iowa as we expand our Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention Response to ACEs project. Teams from selected communities will complete a community readiness assessment measuring leaders' and citizens' readiness to engage in prevention efforts and develop a plan to raise the readiness level utilizing the research on adverse childhood experiences. Applications are due October 3. Learn more here: www.pcaiowa.org/programs/cbpr-to-aces/

Six initial sites have already gone through this process and are implementing action plans. This work will be evaluated by national research firm Hornby Zeller Associates over the next year to learn about the process that's been developed and best practices for engaging the community around ACEs and prevention.
