Trauma and Resilience Network March Notes

My friends!! Another great conversation this past Friday!! You all are so stinkin’ amazing, I truly appreciate each of you and the work you all do on a daily basis for our community. I’m always energized when I get to hear you all share your wisdom.

Okay, so we had some very intentional small group conversation time broken into 2 sub groups, 1) Educators and 2) CBO and Health professionals. Our focus was to discuss the trainings we think are vital when it comes to all of our organizations/institutions to become “trauma informed”. There were several mentioned but 4 common themes rose to the top…..

  1. Trauma and its effects on the brain
  2. Self Care for providers and parents
  3. Systems/Structural Trauma
  4. Front line trainings for all providers that work with the community

On the topic of trainings, we have 2 coming up at the end of March, see our two flyers attached. One is for practitioners and the other for parents. Our 2 main trainers for these two trainings are our very own Brian Semsem and Stephanie Zimmerman, both within our network.

We may very well have great folks within our network that can provide us some trainings in the 4 focus areas above.

Also on the topic of trainings, I mentioned that our ACE’s Connection partners can help us assemble all the trainings each of us have been through in the area of trauma and resilience.  See the link below and PLEASE take some time to fill it out. When it asks for ACN Community you’ll enter Fresno County Trauma and Resilience Network.

Also, we mentioned that Brooke had shared some Epigenetics info, see attached.
