Florida First State To Show Resilience Documentary via Public Broadcasting Service

We are delighted that Florida will be the first state to show the documentary, Resilience:  The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope on public television.  Many communities have shown the film followed by facilitated discussions of trauma and resiliency and ways to reduce stress and strengthen resiliency in their schools and neighborhoods. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to encourage “house or dorm watching parties” or follow up community discussions.

Also, the film is available from Prevent Child Abuse Florida if you’d like to show it another time.

Hartsfield Elementary School just showed the film to parents and teachers last week with a great turn out and discussion.   Contact Mary Jo Peltier peltiermj@comcast.net for guidance.   Palm Beach had community showings with lots of follow up activities contact Lisa Williams <Lisa.Williams-Taylor@cscpbc.org> or Renee Layman Renee@centerforchildcounseling.org.

This is such great news!

Thank you, Mimi, for sharing, and to Lynn Waymer of KPJR Films, and the great people at Florida State University and Florida PBS stations who are making this happen. This is a most-definite "look-forward-to-it" for Florida ACEs Connection communities!

I hope each community will have a viewing party of some type, inviting reps from all sectors of the community: education, healthcare, justice, housing, mental health, faith communities, etc., and use this opportunity to raise awareness among people who're not yet familiar with ACEs Science/the science of hope!
