Building Trauma Informed, Resilient and Healthy Communities: Regional, National, and Global Perspectives

The Academy on Violence and Abuse (AVA) is hosting this session at the 30th Annual San Diego International Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment.  This event is open to conference attendees as well as the general public.  There is a $175 registration fee, with discounts provided for new and current AVA members. 

Presenters include: Randell Alexander, David Corwin, Vincent Felitti, Tasneem Ismailji, Susan Kelley, F. David Schneider, Steven Stone, Agnes Tiwari, and Susie Wiet. 

Description: Presenting AVA's new Regional Academies for increasing community trauma/resilience awareness and ongoing commitment to address violence and abuse.  Dr. Felitti begins with an overview of the Adverse Childhood Experiences Study findings and current developments.  Biological pathways underlying the associations between childhood adversity/trauma and long-term health and behavior are reviewed.  Current approaches addressing interpersonal violence across the lifespan are covered.  Mobilizing leaders and communities is discussed by those who have done it.
