New Mentality, Inc. Agency Spotlight

With clinicians who are board certified and trained in qEEG brain mapping and neurofeedback, New Mentality, Inc. hopes to provide additional alternative solutions to managing the brain health of their clients.  Brain mapping allows for these clinicians to see, analyze and understand how the brain is performing and create training programs to improve its functioning, while neurofeedback helps train brain activity and improve cognitive performance.

In November 2023, New Mentality, Inc. began partnering with Benchmarks to provide Trauma-intensive Comprehensive Clinical Assessments (TiCCAs) for Cabarrus County Department of Human Services as part of the Standardized Assessment Protocol (SAP) project.

When asked why New Mentality wanted to be involved in the SAP project, Founder/CEO and Clinical Team Leader Tracy Alston, had this to say:

“ When we were presented with the opportunity to be part of this project that has such a tremendous potential of setting our youth on a better mental wellness path sooner, we were all in. The ability to have an intensive assessment that takes so many factors into perspective is truly what our clients deserve. This allows for the potential of better referrals and services for our clients. We are thankful for the opportunity to work alongside everyone in this project. Our agency is excited to learn and add another modality of assessing trauma and hopefully providing more insights and solutions on how we can help them become the best versions of themselves despite what they have been/are going through.”

Tracy goes on to discuss the importance of trauma-informed work and assessments by stating “As a clinician providing brain mapping and neurofeedback for over a decade, I have literally seen through our neuro imaging capabilities just how trauma impacts the brain and the body. Trauma affects everything and is often overlooked and under identified. Having assessment tools in place to accurately assess and then treat one’s nervous system can be a game changer when it comes to outcomes and client’s success and needs.” Tracy believes that if her team can teach clients early about their brain and body and ways they can retrain their nervous systems, it will put them in a better position to navigate their lives long term.

New Mentality’s passion for, knowledge of, and experience with trauma-informed work reflects the overall goal of Benchmarks' TiCCA work to ensure that children receive a quality assessment early in their system involvement, allowing children to remain in and be treated in their home communities preventing further traumatization and placement in higher levels of care. We are excited to have such an amazing and experienced group of clinicians join our SAP team!
