Welcome to Arizona ACES in Action State Group

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to 2017 and the official kick-off of the Arizona ACEs in Action State Group! This is a big year for the Arizona ACE Consortium – our 10 year anniversary!  It’s hard to believe that a decade has gone by since we officially launched what started as the Arizona ACE Think Tank and later turned into the Arizona Adverse Childhood Experiences Consortium! A lot has changed over these past 10 years. Originally the problem was finding any information on what individuals, organizations or communities were doing related to ACEs.  In 2017, the problem is trying to keep up with the dizzying array of activity related to ACEs, toxic stress, trauma informed care and resiliency!

Enormous credit for the development of our Arizona ACE Consortium goes to the many “ACE pioneers” around the country that have always so generously shared their thoughts, resources, challenges, triumphs and encouragement - to keep asking questions, talking about ACEs and providing “gentle persuasion relentlessly applied”.   Jane Stevens and her colleagues at ACEs Too High and ACEs Connection also deserve our gratitude for building an incredible platform to network and communicate the wonderful work occurring all around the US and around the world.

While we now have more research and information on the myriad of issues around ACEs and effective policies, prevention and intervention than 10 years ago, we have much more work to do to ensure that all children and families have the tools and opportunities to thrive.  We invite you to learn more about our work in Arizona and join in our efforts.  We hope that you’ll find the attached reports, photos, etc. informative, and that you’ll use the Arizona ACEs in Action group to share information on your ACE-related resources and the events in your local communities.  Sincere thanks for your interest and involvement in our work – here’s to 10 more years of “creating strong communities”.
