Children Don’t Say They Have Anxiety, They Say ‘My Stomach Hurts!’

Raymond Lambert ·
[ ...... they tell us their symptoms, awaiting our experience and wisdom for help. However, up until recently, most adults were completely unaware of the prominence of childhood mental disorders, other than ADHD and the other run of the mill behavioral issues experienced by children. And even in adulthood, it seems that anxiety isn’t taken as seriously as it should be, because most people think that anxiety is simply the occurrence of a normal fear taking hold of us. But anxiety is much more...

Not rocket-science - but the beautiful word *evidence-base* helps

Raymond Lambert ·
From We need to talk about Children's Mental Health Throughout my twenty year career as a psychologist working in Specialist Children’s Mental Health Services (SCAMHS) two frequently repeated mantras have been amongst the biggest sources of frustration for me: “It’s a social problem, not a mental disorder” and “the child needs to be stable to access therapy”; the latter often responded to with the helpless reply “but the child need’s therapy in order to be stable”. Indeed, much of the...

What Do Asthma, Heart Disease And Cancer Have In Common? Maybe Childhood Trauma

Raymond Lambert ·
When I posted about asthma a few years ago, the powers-that-be nearly hounded me off the internet, and with scary legal threats. "The one thing that I just want to add is, that kid who has asthma all the time — that may also be a symptom [of trauma]. Or the kid who has the chronic headaches or the chronic tummy pain. Those may be symptoms that are less obvious and certainly less intrusive in the school environment, so they can be overlooked." FULL ARTICLE What Do Asthma, Heart Disease And...

This is so sad and so unnecessary. We are a wealthy country and can easily afford to house our citizens if there was the political will. These children are suffering and will continue to suffer into their adolescent and adult lives.

Hi Ann, A big welcome to the page. Just trust that your heart and enthusiasm will get us through. There may be people here or there who can advise you on how they " implemented this approach to community development " - but I say : follow your instinct,...

Discover the Truth Behind Where Your Anxious Feelings Are Coming From.

Angela McEvitt ·
At the heart of my coaching practice is my wish to help people re-discover their authentic selves and help them understand the role thought plays in driving their behaviours and in how they experience life. It was this knowledge that lead to the biggest change in my own life, leading me from a life coloured by trauma, insecurity and hyper-vigilance, to one of ease, peace, compassion, and a greater trust in my innate resilience. We feel 100% of our thoughts, how many of them are you suffering...
