Ki would strongly suggest Social. Work or School Social Work. A MSSW is a very flexible degree opening doors to community work, counseling, therapy, public service, program management and development, etc (social workers are systems thinkers)

Trauma-informed practices when delivered to one student at a time, via the school counselors, dean of students, social workers, etc., seem to be working for us fairly well. That was our numbers as well. I think you will continue to struggle and see turn over if it is something left up to certain school staff to "deliver" the trauma-informed practices. To me, a trauma-informed school is one that practices the approach in all of their interactions using "universal precautions." Looking for Information about Trauma Informed Approaches to ALICE Training
Greetings, My community is just starting Active Shooting drills using the ALICE model. A number of the teachers, parents and students have expressed concerns that these drills (because they are designed to simulate a real active threat) could be traumatizing and/or re-traumatizing for those in the schools. I'm wondering if anyone has any information (sample policies, procedures or practices) that can make an active shooting drill more trauma informed.

Hi there ! My name is Sharon and I am desperately trying to get my daughter out of high school due to the trauma she has suffered. On top of having SEVERE anxiety , she was attacked at school and other girls have come out of the woodwork threatening her. What do you think, is a 6th SEL core competency needed?
The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) defines five core SEL competencies , including (1)self-awareness, (2)social awareness, (3)self-management, (4)relationship skills, and (5)responsible decision making. The CASEL Five SEL competencies ARE NOT sufficient to achieve that which they were created to accomplish and which CASEL itself was created to accomplish. There are 6 core competencies, not five, and the 6th is the one that is by far the most important.

It's unfortunate that this is even an issue. I'm not that familiar with working with children but would it be possible to adapt the same trauma-informed practices for teaching to active shooter drills?
