Looking for Information about Trauma Informed Approaches to ALICE Training
Greetings, My community is just starting Active Shooting drills using the ALICE model. A number of the teachers, parents and students have expressed concerns that these drills (because they are designed to simulate a real active threat) could be traumatizing and/or re-traumatizing for those in the schools. My daughter with severe anxiety/ k-12
Hi there ! My name is Sharon and I am desperately trying to get my daughter out of high school due to the trauma she has suffered. On top of having SEVERE anxiety , she was attacked at school and other girls have come out of the woodwork threatening her. Need to identify high school post Residential Treatment Center (RDT)
I am a volunteer in my community who are in the early stages of learning about trauma informed care. There are some teenagers in our community who have been impacted by ACEs and succumbed to using opioids. A few of them who could afford the expense have enrolled in out of state (expensive) residential treatment centers (RTC). I am not sure if some of these RTCs explicitly use trauma informed care. Hi there, I've seen it introduced in a number of schools. I think that when practiced with fidelity it is equitable. I also think it can help promote some very good school skills. However it has also been my experience that educators rarely get the support that they need to continue doing it with fidelity. I encourage teachers to start slowly, and get support from the consultant as long as possible. I don't know about how it promotes resiliency. From my experience, it's mostly focused on...

Maureen, I am writing a paper on this now for a graduate course I am finishing on learning theories. I will also be doing a presentation using Articulate Storyline that I will publish. I should be finished within a week to 10 days. I might add my research on trauma in children was the bulk of my master's degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis. I'm not that familiar with working with children but would it be possible to adapt the same trauma-informed practices for teaching to active shooter drills? I too have spent many car rides driving and pondering the intersection of ACES and SPED.
