The Role of States in Supporting Social and Emotional Learning (livestream)

To register, click here

According to CASEL, the number of states that have developed policies and guidance to advance social and emotional learning (SEL) has increased steadily in the past several years, likely stimulated in part by the increased flexibility states have under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

This forum will look at a growing body of evidence that supports states' efforts. Participants will learn how states are pioneering the support and implementation of social emotional learning in their academic instruction, and discuss future implications for legislation, standards, policies, and professional development.

Speakers include:
Aaliyah Samuel, director of the education division of the National Governors Association.

Kristen Amundson, president and CEO of the National Association of State Boards of Education.

Linda Dusenbury, senior research scientist with CASEL.

Jacqueline Jodl, executive director of the Aspen Institute National Commission on Social, Emotional, and Academic Development.

Gene Wilhoit, Director, National Center for Innovation in Education.

John Bridgeland, policy co-chair on the National Commission for Social, Emotional and Academic Development subcommittee.

State and local education leaders from six states integrating SEL into systems.
And other leaders in the SEL field.
