Type 2 Diabetes Revolution: Trauma, Reversibility, and Why It's Not Your Fault

My free 1 hour class presents a trauma-informed model for making sense of type 2 diabetes (T2D). It also explains why bigger bodies are not the cause of type 2 diabetes but indicators of a common pathway: ADVERSITY.

The science contradicts the predominant view that T2D is caused by overeating, "obesity" and a sedentary lifestyle. If present, these indicate a history of adversity rather than being the cause.

Class includes

  • 8 categories of adversity that affect risk
  • the science that supports it
  • why it's not psychological
  • ACEs increase risk for diabetes and larger bodies and are one category
  • Discrimination is an under-recognized risk factor and is another category
  • Prenatal stress is an important risk factor that can influence multiple generations
  • What a continuous glucose monitor looks like
  • Why it can be stressful to check sugar levels when you have diabetes
  • 2 PAGE FREE TYPE 2 DIABETES FACT SHEET with 2 pages of references to educate your doctor and others

These trauma perspectives are well studied and validated through research even as they have yet to reach medical care and thinking.

Understanding the role of adversity can be validating, empowering and remove the blame, shame and belief that having Type 2 Diabetes is a person's fault or due to lack of will power and more. It also adds tools to support improved blood sugar levels and reversibility.

My talk is part of a 10 day free online summit hosted by Avaiya University and will be free for 24 hours beginning the morning of January 24th (USA - times will vary based on your location).
