AFT: After the Shootings: How to Help Our Kids and Ourselves

Webinar at 6:30pm EDT

After mass shootings in grocery stores, hospitals, and elementary schools, young people and adults alike are experiencing fear and loss, and exhibiting symptoms of immense stress and trauma. How, after so much grief, can we begin to support ourselves as well as our young people?

On June 8 at 6:30pm EDT, AFT's ShareMyLesson will host the webinar, "After the Shootings: How to Help Our Kids and Ourselves." Turnaround for Children Founder and Senior Science Advisor, Pamela Cantor, M.D., joins AFT President, Randi Weingarten, and co-founders of Teachers Unify to End Gun Violence, including Parkland survivor, Sarah Lerner, and Sandy Hook survivor, Abbey Clements, for an important conversation on how to support ourselves and our young people, with strategies for parents, caregivers, teachers, and support staff. The discussion will include ways to identify and understand stress in kids and strategies for supporting them through traumatic experiences.
