I would recommend looking at Local foundations that may have smaller grants for community project and such.

For the more ambitious you can look at Mental health and recovery boards, Departments of Job and family services. They often have grants and funds to distribute. But they also have more regulations and requirements to get said funding.

Best advice is reach out well before the need and keep your idea a little flexible to make the funders needs and requirements a priority for your overall goal.

Agreed! Local community foundations can help. There are usually family foundations interested in the well-being of the community. Depending on what you need and what it’s for, sometimes county governments have funding. There is also American Rescue Plan Act Funding that must be spent and may still be available in your community.
