Both #FVPSA & #CAPTA reauthorization bills include critically needed updates and improvements to support families and communities and ensure more survivors of family violence have access to services.
#FVPSA & #CAPTA were last re-authorized more than a decade ago! Tell your Members of Congress that we must pass #FVPSA and #PassCAPTA to protect children and families and prevent child abuse and neglect.

Subject line: Children and Families Need You to Pass CAPTA Reauthorization

Dear Senator/Representative [insert name]:

As your constituent, I urge you to ensure that Congress reauthorizes the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA).

CAPTA is foundational to our nation’s system for preventing and addressing child abuse and neglect. It supports interventions to protect and respond to children after they have been seriously harmed, as well as family support services which prevent child abuse and neglect from occurring in the first place. It has not been reauthorized since 2010.

Both the House and Senate have developed strong bipartisan reauthorization bills that will help children and families in our state. They include provisions that increase the program’s accountability, strengthen the law’s focus on prevention, and help to reduce fatalities. Reauthorizing this important program will help thousands of children and families in our state.

[Insert more information about CAPTA’s impact in the state, including information about your work, if possible.]

I hope that [insert state] can count on you to help ensure CAPTA is reauthorized this year. If you have any questions or would like more information about CAPTA’s impact in our state, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,

[Insert name, organization, and location]
