Education is the answer. It makes sense that this model will work as long as the men involved are all healthy. Child welfare has not been effective at breaking the generational cycle of family dysfunction. Their efforts focus on the parents and changing adults is difficult because of the trauma they have already endured. Getting out in front of this by reaching our youth is the best chance that we have. Creating healthier adults for the future is what this model strives to do. Our public high schools need to make healthy living classes more of a priority like parenting and child development. COPE24.com is working to change legislation in Missouri so that our mandated health class becomes "Health and Family Education".
