TRAUMA SENSITIVE YOGA- AS A PATHWAY TO ANTI-OPPRESSIVE PRACTICE:

A PROFESSIONAL TRAINING IN TCTSY FOR HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS, HEALERS & ACTIVISTS

This professional training is designed for social workers, activists, mental health clinicians, yoga teachers, educators, and other health care professionals who are looking to deepen their understanding of the whole-system impact of complex, intersectional trauma.

Additionally, it is designed to support those professionals in expanding their current practice, to incorporate the Evidence Based Practice of Trauma Center-Trauma Sensitive Yoga; through learning how to integrate healing the impacts of complex trauma on the nervous system, via trauma sensitive movement and breath.

Emphasis is placed on how the core components of the practice and process of trauma sensitive yoga, are also the building blocks to any anti-oppressive & trauma sensitive work. The training will provide specific tools to support participants to facilitate trauma sensitive movement and breath practices that are vital to the healing process of complex trauma (a.k.a. the many faces of systemic oppression) in personal, professional, community-based or system-wide relationships.

Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is an evidence-based adjunctive treatment for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). TCTSY is the only yoga-based practice endorsed by SAMSHA’s National Registry of Evidence-based Programs & Practices.

This 20-hour training (16 hrs in person, 4 hrs self-study) is based on sound research from the Trauma Center, of the Justice Resource Institute in Boston, MA.

This weekend training qualifies as the prerequisite to apply for the 300-hour Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) Certification Program.

Breaks and lunch will be provided in proportion to the length of training day.

FOR:

Professionals who are working to heal and reverse the multi system impact of complex trauma (a.k.a. all layers of oppression), and who are interested in learning an evidenced based approach to facilitate holistic change & healing, interpersonally and systemically.

The training is applicable for social workers, activists, mental health clinicians, yoga teachers, educators, and other healthcare professionals.

Facilitated by:

Morgan Vanderpool, LICSW, E-RYT, TCTSY-F is faculty at the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at JRI. They are a supervisor for the Spanish-Language Certification Program, a Licensed 20-hr TCTSY Trainer, & a TCTSY Agency Trainer.

Morgan is the TCTSY trainer for the Western United States, MΓ©xico, Latin America and the Caribbean. Morgan is a queer, non-binary, clinical social worker, who is multilingual and multi-literate in Spanish and English. They are passionate about facilitating empowering learning experiences for other professionals on how to use the neuroscientific foundations of TC-TSY's body-up approach to movement and breath, to help facilitate healing for the most complex intersections of systemic oppression and individual trauma. INVESTMENT:

THE VALUE OF THE TRAINING IS $375, AND WE ARE OFFERING A SELF-DETERMINED WAY TO INVEST IN THE TRAINING.

The scale is based on your self-determined access to resources, privilege & social capital. In your self-determination, please consider your global positionality of privilege. Please self-assess based on aspects of your personhood that do, or do not, grant you privilege/access to social capital e.g. race, gender & sexual identity, socio-economic status, educational background, able-bodied-ness, etc.

  • Abundant access to social capital: $425

  • Sufficient access to social capital: $375

  • Limited access to social capital: $325

  • If paying in one lump sum is not accessible for you at this time, payment plans are available.

  • Additionally, there is one 50% scholarship available for someone who has a complex positionality & who is actively involved in anti-oppressive, trauma-sensitive work.

  • There is a work study position available, at 50% tuition plus active participation in supporting the logistics of the training.

FAQs:

Q: Do I need to be a yoga teacher to participate?

A: No. Participants DO NOT need to be yoga teachers to benefit from the training, although a well-developed personal yoga practice can be very helpful. Morgan will facilitate the learning experience so that you can integrate TC-TSY into your particular professional context.

Q: Do I need to be a clinician in order to participate?

A: No. The training is applicable for social workers, activists, mental health clinicians, yoga teachers, educators, and other healthcare professionals.

Q: Does this training certify me as a TCTSY-F (Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitator)?

A: No. However, it is the prerequisite to apply for the 300-hour Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) Certification Program.

Q: Do you offer any financial assistance or financial aid?

A: If you are experiencing financial limitations, please contact Morgan to facilitate payment plans or work-study possibilities.

Q: Do you provide CEUs?

A: CEU's available for Yoga Alliance RYT's & Licensed Mental Health Providers through WMHCA.

Q: What should I consider for self care?

A: The curriculum is taught through a trauma sensitive lens centering self and community care. It is natural that due to the in-depth conversations in the training, trauma responses may arise. Please come prepared to support yourself in meeting your physical and emotional needs throughout the training and afterwards.

Q: Should I make any social plans the weekend of the training?

A: We believe in choice making, and be mindful that you will have homework and reflection practices during the evenings, and will be integrating a lot of new/self-reflective information.
