Workshop - Perinatal Mental Health - Evidence Based Practices and New Research Findings

March 31, 2017 -- 2pm - 5pm -- Spokane

The workshop attendees will learn about risk factors and epidemiology of perinatal mental disorders (MDD, Bipolar Dis, Anxiety Dis, Psychotic Dis, PTSD, Grief related issues), differential diagnosing, and evidence based assessment and treatment. In the end of the workshop they will be able to create an evidence based service plan to meet the needs of the woman and her family. In addition, they will be able to identify cultural and socio-economic factors in the development of perinatal mental health issues, and approach treatment from a systemic, strengths-based, and holistic lens.

Objectives:

1) Identify risk factors for perinatal mental disorders;

2) Gain knowledge about epidemiology of perinatal mental disorders and cultural reasons for the  disproportional representation of women of color, women of lower socio-economic status, single mothers, and other marginalized women;

3) Identify evidence based assessments and differential diagnosis

4) Learn about the use of preferred treatments with culturally diverse populations

5) Learn to develop evidence based service/treatment plans

The workshop is sponsored by the National Association of Social Workers-WA chapter and in honor of Social Work Month it would be free for members and $35 for non-members, and it would give attendees 3 CE's.
