No consensus on the “Murphy bill” to restructure the mental health care system

Opposing views of Rep. Tim Murphy’s Helping Families In Mental Health Crisis Act are expressed on Pete Earley’s (mental health advocate and author of Crazy) website: Leah Harris presented her arguments against the bill on Nov. 10 and D.J. Jaffe made the case for the bill on Nov. 12.  A subcommittee markup on the bill was held November 4. The new Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan (R-WI), supports the bill but other Republicans are raising concerns
