VA TICNs Community Conversations with First Lady and Children's Cabinet Begin Today in Northern Virginia

The trauma-informed community networks of Virginia (VA TICNs) are hosting Community Conversations with First Lady Pamela Northam and members of the Children’s Cabinet as part of the First Lady’s Road to Resilience Tour throughout the Commonwealth in October. Network representatives will have the opportunity to share examples of resilience in their communities, as well as needs relating to children, families, and the workforce amidst the ongoing trauma of the pandemic. The conversations will take place each week in a different region of Virginia, beginning today with the Northern VA TICNs. Representatives from RAISE (Alexandria’s TICN), Arlington Resilience Community, Fairfax TICN, Loudoun County TICN, Northern Shenandoah Valley Resilience Initiative, and Greater Prince William TICN will all be in attendance. RAISE is hosting the conversation as a webinar on Zoom, with Emily Griffey, Chief Policy Officer with Voices for Virginia’s Children, moderating. You can register to attend and view live on Zoom here. The conversation will also be recorded to be able to view for those who cannot attend. Upcoming conversations will feature Central VA TICNs, Eastern VA TICNs, and Southwest VA TICNs.

The VA TICNs are a multi-sector coalition of networks focused on building resilience and preventing and mitigating the impact of trauma in their communities and creating a more trauma-informed and resilient culture in Virginia. The VA TICNs work together with state partners to change practices, policies, systems within their regions and at the state level. Greater Richmond SCAN convenes bi-monthly meetings of the VA TICNs, provides support and technical assistance to the 26 networks, and distributes a bi-weekly eNote with resources and events.
