Keynote: Celebrating the Uniqueness of Each Family, by Naomi Haines Griffith Naomi will talk about how EVERY family has a special flavor, uniqueness, and personality of its own. The risk factors we often identify such as poverty, lack of education, migrant status, or even homelessness, do not necessarily condemn a family to fail. Our goal as a community must be to value the individuality of each family regardless of presenting problems. We must systematically identify and build on family strengths, providing appropriate services to ensure success. Although we have verbalized our belief in this concept, we have not turned this commitment into an approach that can truly serve each individual family. This keynote will present a “call to action” for families utilizing a differential response to delivery of services.
