November 1 Clinician's Training on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy: Trauma Informed Intervention Offering

This year's ACEs and Resiliency Fellowship program seeks to engage local therapists and counselors in expanding their trauma informed intervention skill set.  Join us for our first training on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, a trauma intervention modality appropriate for individuals in middle school or older.

November 1, 2017, 1:00 - 3:00 at Sonoma County Office of Education

This training covers the fundamentals of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills: Core Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness.

Participants learn how to plan, structure, and conduct DBT skills classes. This training utilizes an interactive format to explore dialectical challenges for the provider in working with highly dysregulated youth.   Please see the attached course outline.

The training will also explore the process of selecting training targets and DBT strategies. Completion of this training is pre-requisite to joining the DBT Skills Facilitators Preparation Training series, which participants are also welcome to join.

The training targets school counselors in the Counselor Network, and is open to all other Sonoma County providers seeking to offer trauma interventions.

The cost of this 2 hour course is $25.00.  Please register at www.scoe.org/classes or by clicking here for the specific link

To view the upcoming rotating schedule of continued DBT courses offered by Wendy Wheelright and Sonoma County Behavioral Health, please see the attached file.   A course syllabus is attached to view the full set of offerings.

As a collaboration between the Sonoma County Office of Education, Sonoma County Department of Human Services, Sonoma County Department of Health Services (Behavioral Health and Public Health), Child-Parent Institute, First 5 Sonoma County, and Sonoma County ACES Connection, the 2017-18 ACEs and Resiliency Fellowship program will move from the goal of awareness-building to one of action.

Please help us spread the word to your colleagues in counseling and help us expand the number of providers offering trauma interventions in our community!
