Elizabeth led the group in a mindful moment.

Carla and Elizabeth Smith shared that they have been attending "What Happened to You?" Book Club Facilitator training meetings and plan to facilitate in September possibly. 10 weeks through zoom starting with professionals. Looking for sponsors.

Sandra shared that the Vinters grant was approved to provide PACEs/Resilience presentations to West County Schools. Have been meeting with Districts and planning for presentations. First presentation is scheduled for Oak Grove on August 24th.

Elizabeth Smith shared that she was invited to the Pathway to Income Equity coalition a project coming from the ARPA funding. First 5 of Sonoma County will be leading a local Coalition to launch a Guaranteed Basic Income pilot program in Sonoma County called Pathway to Income Equity. There are pilot programs happening around the country and we are thrilled to utilize ARPA funding from local cities and Sonoma County to launch a pilot here.

Pathway to Income Equity will provide $500 per month for 24 months of unconditional, no- strings attached payments, to families:
In Sonoma County and especially in high-need Qualified Census Tracts
With a child under 6 years of age and/or currently pregnant
With a household income level of 185% of the federal poverty line

The idea being that with the $500 a month of unconditional payments for two years, they can pilot and build an income floor where families with young children have room to catch up on basic needs and spend more time with their children and take advantage of opportunities for growth. They have funding to serve 305 families across Sonoma County. We will open the application in September, do a lottery in early December to choose the 305 households, and start payments in January 2024.

Elizabeth Smith shared that Elizabeth Vermilyea has been supportive and offering mentorship to help start a SCPC Steering Committee. They ahve met a couple times to discuss the process and what it can look like. Elizabeth Smith to send out a Doodle Poll to see if there is interest from partners to join Steering Committee.

Elizabeth Smith shared that before SC/SU will provide a ARPA contract for SCPC, they need a fiscal sponsor that can provide the federal reporting needed. Elizabeth Smith has discovered that Peacetown cannot offer the support needed. She shared that she has spent over 50 hours in the last 3 weeks in meetings, emails, phone calls, and searching for a fiscal sponsor that can provide the correct federal funding. She has been working with the county, SC/SU, CAP, and CPI to figure out exactly what is needed. It is not clear and difficult to navigate. Elizabeth Vermilyea honored that Elizabeth Smith has done her due diligence to secure the right fiscal sponsor. Sandra suggested SCPC go back to using CPI as the fiscal sponsor.

SCPC social date TBD
