In this nourishing retreat for educators, counselors, parents, and anyone working with youth, we'll explore mindfulness practices that fit into your daily life. Participants will learn how to cultivate an inner-resource of stillness that is available even in the midst of busyness and chaos.

The day will consist of short periods of meditation, mindful movement, gentle yoga, mindful coloring and opportunities to learn from and connect with fellow mindfulness practitioners.

Please dress in comfortable clothes or yoga attire and bring a water bottle. If you would like to participate in the gentle yoga class, please bring a yoga mat or small blanket to lie on. If you have an extra yoga mat you would like to share for the day this would be most welcome.

Light snacks and tea will be provided. Lunch will be just 30 minutes, so please bring a lunch to enjoy in the garden or on the grounds during our break.

By attending this retreat you will:

  • Understand the difference between formal and informal mindfulness practices

  • Learn mindfulness activities you can do throughout your day

  • Create a plan for integrating mindfulness into your daily routine

  • Take home a mindfulness reminder card that you create

  • Connect with fellow mindfulness educators and mental health providers

  • Relax and enjoy a few hours of peace and stillness!

This event is a Meetup project of Mindful Schools and takes place at the Petaluma Regional Library.

The day is hosted by the Mindful Educators Alliance. Presenters Include:

Chelsea True is a native to Napa California and the founder of Sonoma County nonprofit Joyful Mind Project. She is passionate about her work growing mindfulness education in the North Bay and supporting schools and families. Chelsea presently holds two certifications in secular mindfulness, in MBSR-T (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction for Teens) and as a Mindful Schools Certified Instructor. She leads mindfulness programs for schools, parents, teens, and children throughout the Bay Area. Her work is featured in the book, Happy Teachers Change the World, by Thich Nhat Hanh and Katherine Weare.

Pam Walton is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Mindful Schools certified Mindfulness Teacher. Ms. Walton currently serves as a Mental Health Clinician for the Napa Valley Unified School District (NVUSD). Ms. Walton holds master’s degrees in Physiology and Clinical Psychology and is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She currently teaches mindfulness and leads seminars on mindfulness, mental health and trauma. She also has a small private psychotherapy practice in Napa.

Sarah Wilmarth taught upper Elementary grades before starting her own family. Mindfulness practices were a great support in her personal life… then certain political events of 2016 jolted her into action, looking for ways to share the tools of mindfulness with others. As a result, she is currently in the Mindful Schools certification program. Sarah currently works behind a desk at the Sonoma County Office of Education as a Regional Program Assistant, where she leads an adult mindfulness program; she also volunteers at her daughter’s school teaching mindfulness to third graders.

Registration is free. Donations are gratefully accepted. Your generosity helps support the growth of mindfulness education in our region. Suggested donation: $25.00 -
$50.00 sliding scale, or as your means allow. No one turned away for lack of funds.

Please plan to turn off cell phones upon your arrival.

Thank you, everyone.
