CALM Newsletter: September is for Caring

September is Self-Care Awareness Month, and a good reminder to think about how you can support your own mental health.

To me, authentic self-care is the radical act of prioritizing your own well-being. It's diving deep, addressing hard things, and understanding how you can best meet your needs in positive ways.

It’s not as simple as taking a bubble bath or dancing in your living room, but rather, building a life—day in and day out—that you don’t need to escape from. It’s being honest with what is working and what isn’t working. It’s examining your relationships and commitments. And it’s prioritizing yourself in the most fundamental of ways.

True self-care can be hard work, but you and your health are worth the extra effort. CALM and our resources are here to help you.

Thank you to CALM's Auxiliary!

This month, we celebrated 51 years of the CALM Auxiliary, and its enduring legacy.

In 1971, the Auxiliary's founders saw a need and met the moment. Since then, hundreds of women have come together to raise funds and friends for CALM’s children and families.

While the Auxiliary is evolving, its commitment lives on in our history and future. It’s the end of one era, but also the beginning of a new promise of volunteerism at CALM.

Interested in volunteering with CALM? More to come soon!

Suicide Prevention Month

Suicide is a major public health concern that affects individuals, families and communities. It is complicated and tragic, and is often preventable.

Everyone can help prevent suicide by learning the warning signs, promoting prevention and resilience, and committing to social change that destigmatizes seeking mental health support and encourages healing from stress and trauma.
