Trauma Informed Libraries Coming to Our Region!

Nothing demonstrates the goal of bringing trauma-informed care to ALL sectors, like the effort to create trauma-informed libraries. Libraries aren't overtly clinical spaces, yet library staffs seem to have caught on that their work is directly impacted by the trauma and toxic stress carried by the communities they serve.

Led by Alicia Doktor, a regular member of Resilient Sacramento and Branch Supervisor of Colonial Heights Library in the Sacramento Public Library system, both Resilient Sacramento and Yolo Resilience Network will begin exploring how to develop the capacity of our local libraries to become hubs of trauma-informed practice.

Check out this powerpoint presentation from Denver Public Library, one of the inspirations for this work. This presentation is stored in our Resources/Toolkits tab, and can be quickly accessed by clicking the link above.

Also, check out Alicia's public facebook group on Trauma Informed Libraries.

What a great contribution this will be to our communities!
