On Wednesday April 5th at El Camino High School Library, 30 Sacramento region educators joined Brian Goetsch and Susan Jones to learn about the impact of mindful education.
Brian Goetsch, a School Psychologist with San Juan United School District, lead the Mindful Educators group in a "Mindful Moment".
Susan Jones, Behavior Specialist for San Juan Unified School District and Resilient Sacramento Education Chair presented on ACES, followed by training on Trauma Informed Practices. Susan focused on the physiology and neurology of trauma, and how trauma impacts learning and behavior. The presentation is attached below.
Susan shared with the group: "This is about what we need to do and know not only about persons dealing with trauma, but about ourselves. We also learned how our communication is most important to deescalation. Knowing our triggers, focusing on self care and how to build resiliency for our students, families and staff."
