Event: Helping Children Heal: Fostering Love, Hope, and Justice

Here's an opportunity to learn more about the UCSF HEARTS program that has been discussed in recent meetings, as well as be introduced to the RYSE Youth center.  This event will be held in nearby Richmond, CA. To register, click the link at the bottom of this post.

From the event page:

"Children's Defense Fund-California, RYSE Youth Center, and ACEs Connection present Helping Children Heal: Fostering Love, Hope, and Justice.  We hope you can join us in this special event to highlight, connect, and consider statewide policies, practices, and investments that enable and sustain trauma-informed and healing-centered systems.

Assemblymember Tony Thurmond will be facilitating a conversation among advocates and state leaders after we hear from experts at the Center for Youth Wellness and UCSF HEARTS Program on clinical research and practice addressing adverse childhood experiences and complex trauma. Directors of successful model programs will also present community-based approaches. These programs are featured in CDF-CA's soon-to-be released report, Helping Children Heal, and are supporting young people to heal, cope, succeed, and lead amidst conditions of chronic trauma and distress.

This event will take place on Friday, September 18th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm at RYSE Youth Center, located in Richmond, CA at 205 41st Street.  Light breakfast and lunch will be served.  We hope to see you there.

For more information please email Kanwarpal Dhaliwal kanwarpal@rysecenter.org or Janis Connallon atjconnallon@childrensdefense.org."
