Restorative Integral Support (RIS)

Restorative Integral Support (RIS) is “whole life” recovery for people who face challenges of all kinds. RIS assesses an individual's needs and provides guidance for facilitating recovery. As a comprehensive, “whole person” approach to recovery from trauma, RIS includes powerful somatic therapies and other research-informed interventions.

RIS for ACE Response Online Workshop

A free online course is now available to anyone interested in learning more about ACEs, resilience, and Restorative Integral Support (RIS) as an ACE response approach. A range of topics are explored in 13 course modules, covering approximately 12 hours of course material (which you are able to complete at your own pace). The online course was created and arranged by Associate Professor Heather Larkin and her team at the University at Albany.

For more information about the course, download the attached flyer below and please feel free to share it with anyone who may be interested in this opportunity. Thank you!

I just started this course and completed the first module. Even though I'm pretty familiar with the ACE Study, it was good review. I was less familiar with the Restorative Integral Support.  It seems like a useful model for addressing ACEs at individual, programmatic, systemic and community levels.

There are lists of additional online resources included as well as the base course information. The information is a mix of video, reading online and reading articles - nice mix.

Thank you for sharing your review of the course, Tory. I'm glad to hear that you've found it helpful so far and have become more familiar with the RIS model. It is a unique and useful model with a wide range of potential applications. The model provides a sort of comprehensive map of the "whole" person in environment, which social work in particular strives to address.
