December Resilient Brunswick Task Force Meeting

 

Morgan King introduced the meeting and welcomed everyone.

Kelly Purcell, a Community Resiliency Model trainer, shared a 15 minute skill practice where she taught about the Resilient Zone and 2 wellness skills from the model. Participants were able to share their "resources" and were invited to noticed sensations that were pleasant or neutral to their well-being.

Jennifer Beckly, Antron Anthony, Eliza Mendez were there from Mt. Calvery Leadership Academy and shared about the incredible work they are doing to support the community.

They have an EDI Task Force and having conversations to promote equity and justice.

Youth and Adult Leadership Programs where they have discussions and collaborate to become better natural leaders.

Natural Disaster Relief Programs- support individuals after natural disasters.

Community Health Initiative- Mt. Calvary was granted funding from 9 counties, local health departments to support people impacted by COVID-19. They are helping folks know about resources including housing, food, and PPE.

Community Health Workers: talks to the community to get resources for families.

        Dec. 6th at Oceanview Methodist vaccinations clinic

        Dec. 28th- Holden Beach at Sheridan 12-3 p.m.

The film screening will be at BCC on Monday, February 7. Details will be on the calendar and in a future post.

Next Task Force meeting will be on Thursday, January 6 at 10:00 a.m.
